Who we are
ADS is a proudly South African defence contractor specialising in advanced electronic and software systems for weapon control and battlefield management.
Our foundation
Our core team averages more than 30 years of experience across defence engineering, systems integration and tactical operations.
That depth gives ADS the context to understand complex operational needs, work across established platforms and create solutions that are technically sound, adaptable and fit for purpose.
We design and manufacture with an uncompromising focus on reliability and performance while maintaining the disciplined disclosure expected in the defence environment.
Requirements begin with the operational objective, not a predetermined product.
Hardware, software, platforms and communications are treated as one connected system.
New technology and legacy modernisation are balanced around sustainable capability.
Mentorship and skills transfer help develop the next generation of defence professionals.
Heritage
The AS4000 Battlefield Management and Fire Control System was acquired by African Defence Systems from Thales South Africa Systems. ADS commercialises and enhances the AS4000 technology to deliver fire control, weapon automation, vehicle upgrades and long-term maintenance solutions for indirect-fire assets.
This heritage gives ADS a proven technical foundation and an established international product footprint, while allowing focused enhancement around current operational requirements, customer platforms and modern integration environments.
Engineering discipline
ADS develops systems for defence applications across multiple operational and platform environments, supporting South African and international programmes subject to applicable approvals and programme requirements. Our integration capability spans three engineering disciplines.
Global footprint
The AS4000 family is in operational service across seven countries and multiple weapon platforms — from 105 mm to 155 mm artillery and 60 mm to 120 mm mortars, together with meteorological and battle-management systems.
